Non-Attendance

We have always endeavoured to be flexible in respect to attendance, understanding as we do that life can be complicated. However, now that our sessions are full on most nights and we have a waiting list, a couple of issues have arisen that mean we need to refine our approach,

Looking back over Term 1 it is apparent that the attendance of some students has been erratic. This makes it very difficult to make sure that we have the impact on their learning that you are paying for. Pupils’ learning is becoming disjointed. Regular attendance is particularly important for 11+ pupils who have to understand Year 6/7 Maths and English at the start of Year 6 and make all the techniques second nature.

Additionally, those who have places but do not attend are now blocking other students on our waiting list.

Therefore, we are reminding you of our non-attendance policy: -

  • Students are expected to attend regularly so as to ensure that tuition can lead to the improvement in the skills, understanding and confidence that parents seek.
  • Parents undertake to inform the Lasting Learning Centre as soon as possible of any non-attendance by text to 07914 003579 and no later than 24 hours prior to the time of the session.
  • Should notification occur less than 24 hours before the session Lasting will charge for the first hour.
  • The late notice charge may be waived in exceptional circumstances entirely at the discretion of the directors of Lasting Education Limited
  • We also now need to advise you that - Where attendance has become erratic or falls below 70% Lasting reserve the right to request payment for each term in advance or to discontinue tuition and give the place to a student on the waiting list.

Finally, we understand that with some students, particularly those coming home by bus, the arrival time may be variable. We have placed those students into the Monday and Tuesday sessions so that they can complete their sessions within the time ‘window’ of 16.15 to 18.45 to reduce the incidence of non-attendance. It is the students’ responsibility to keep their parents informed of any late arrivals and therefore late departures from the centre.

We trust that you will understand why we are having to make this change to our current approach and thank you for your understanding.
